Descrizione: IT Vincenzo Gioberti (1801-1852). Promotore di una federazione di tutti gli Stati d’Italia sotto la sovranità del Papa. L’idea sollevò grande entusiasmo. La popolarità del Gioberti toccò il vertice nel 1848. Ma la prima guerra d’Indi-pendenza fini in un disastro, e fu un colpo mortale per l’idea federalista. Gioberti cambiò parere. Don Bosco, che nei giorni radiosi del 1848 l’aveva chiamato ‘ il grande Gioberti ’, cominciò a trepidare per la sua fede.; IT Vincent Gioberti (1801-1852). Promotor of a Federation of all the States of Italy under the sovereignty of the Pope. The idea aroused great enthusiasm and Gioberti reached the height of his popularity in 1848. But the first War of Independence ended in disaster and gave the death blow to the idea of a federation. Gioberti changed his ideas, and Don Bosco, who had called him “the great Gioberti” in 1848, now had fears that he might lose the faith.
