- IT Il manicomio di Torino. (Litografia del Museo del Risorgimento). È qui che due sacerdoti cercarono di far internare Don Bosco perché lo credevano pazzo. I suoi atti, i suoi grandiosi progetti, le sue previsioni denotavano follia... Gli prepararono una carrozza. Con dolci maniere gli proposero di salirvi. Si sarebbe fatta una passeggiata. Ma Don Bosco mangiò la foglia. Con estrema gentilezza, li obbligò a salire per primi in carrozza, poi chiuse decisamente la porta e gridò al cocchiere: « Al galoppo dove vi aspettano! ». Fu cosi che i due malcapitati finirono nelle mani degli infermieri dell’ospedale. Riuscirono con molta difficoltà a uscirne fuori, e tutta la città rise alle loro spalle. La carrozza aveva sostato nella stradetta che si può osservare nella foto 52.
- IT The mental hospital at Turin. Two priests wanted to take Don Bosco here, because they thought he was mad. His actions, his ambitious projects, his visions were a sure sign of madness ... They hired a cab, and politely invited Don Bosco to go with them for a drive. Don Bosco sensed that there was a trap. He politely insisted that they should be the first to get into the cab; he then slammed the door, and told the coachman to drive off as fast as he could to where he was expected. So the two unfortunate priests finished up at the mental hospital. They had great difficulty in convincing the authorities there that they were sane, and the whole town roared at the way in which Don Bosco had, so neatly, turned the tables. The cab had been waiting for Don Bosco in the street seen on Plate 52.
