- IT Spirito eminentemente pratico fin dalla fanciullezza, Giovanni aveva il gusto dei contratti e degli scambi. Cosi durante le vacanze estive, in cambio delle lezioni di latino che gli dava il parroco di Castelnuovo, egli accudiva il cavallo del reverendo. Ecco la scuderia dove Giovanni impugnò la striglia, nel cortile della canonica.
