Eppure Giovanni non fece che dare il suo cuore alle cose della terra, appunto perché gli uomini creati da Dio vi sono nati e ci vivono: lo fece in vista di Dio.; IT Like St. Francis, John loved birds. He had a blackbird, which he taught to sing. In spite of its cage, the cat caught it and ate it. This upset John, and caused him to make this resolution: “I will never again become attached to things of earth.” Rather a strange reflection for so young a boy. Was it a rash promise? And yet John did give his heart to things of earth, because man, created by God, is born and fives on earth; and he did this with God in mind.
